Unique Things You Can Do in Hilton Head

If you were looking for adventure and peace, then Hilton Head offers an excellent balance of both. This place has everything a vacationer would want and more, lovely beaches, excellent attractions to explore, low-budget transportation, and delicious seafood. We made a list of some of the best things to do in Hilton Head. Let’s find out more.

Walk the trails at sea pines forest preserve

Most tourists love a change of scenery from the beach and the forest preserve is the best place to be. This place is a delight to walk around and explore on wheels. The sea pine forest was founded in 1970 and highlights the important nature reserve that includes the network of amazing walking trails along with the wetland board walking. You can do other interesting things in the forest reserve like horseback riding, wagon rides, guided boat tours, and fishing because it is a great picnic spot.

Take a boat to Daufuskie Island

This island is sandwiched between the Hilton Head and the shoreline of Georgia. It is small and peaceful with a population of around 400 including the musicians during the season. If you ever get tired of the beach crowd or visiting crowded attractions in the Sea Island, just visit Daufuskie Island.

Reaching the island is not too challenging, rather fun. It just takes 45 minutes ferry ride to reach the Intracoastal Waterway. During the busiest season, Daufuskie Island Ferry offers regularly scheduled ferry services, while private operators offer an array of programs, including water taxis. A dolphin sighting is almost certain regardless of whatever route you take.

Must-Visit the Coastal Discovery Museum

The Coastal Discovery Museum is a must-see for anybody visiting Hilton Head Island, especially if you are a nature enthusiast. This popular educational facility is located on 68 acres of property, part of which borders the shore and provides for a great half-day outing. You'll love learning about native tree species like the majestic living oak, which gets its name from the fact that its leaves never entirely fall off.

Visit the Bluffton

While not technically on the island, residents and visitors alike consider Bluffton to be a part of Hilton Head. Begin your tour in the Old Town, a charming neighborhood with excellent restaurants, stylish boutique stores, and a nice public plaza. Visitors like to look around this place because it is the place where the sea of Civil war was sown through the Bluffton Movement in 1844.

Pinckney Island National Wildlife Refuge

Pinckney Island National Wildlife Refuge, which encompasses more than 4,000 acres, was created in 1975. It is sandwiched between Hilton Head Island and the mainland, and it uses the same bridges and highways to link the two bigger landmasses. The establishment was built by the Pinckney family, who had a plantation there in the mid-18th century and they lived on the island for almost 200 hundred years. This place is known as one of the most important archeological sites in South Carolina.

These are some of the best things to do in Hilton Head, and it can get better if you add in some water sports and adventure safari through the woods. The Sea Islands has proved to be one of the most relaxing places for vacation in South Carolina.
